Our main project is called Linking Lives where our members adopt our special needs population at EA and organize such activities as our annual KickBall Tournament, Trick or Treating around campus, a Christmas party, a Mardi Gras parade, and Shamrock O’lympics. Yell Leaders The Yell Leaders consist of Seniors who donate their time, energy, and creativity to keep the traditions of East Ascension High School alive. They are in charge of pep rallies and the Too Much Blue Crew student section at games of all sports. They coordinate with our band, cheerleaders, and Spartanettes to teach the underclassmen what it really means to be a Spartan. In 2019, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association named EA the "Best Student Section" in the state. Spanish Club Spanish Club The EAHS Spanish Club celebrates diversity! We welcome all students who want to learn more about Hispanic culture and the Spanish language. Given our growing Hispanic community, it is beneficial to all of our students to dig deeper and equip themselves with the knowledge to connect with all community members. As a club, we meet once a month and share Hispanic foods, celebrate Hispanic Heritage month, view movies, learn about the dances and traditions, create a Hispanic themed homecoming parade float, attend field trips to widen our horizons, create a scrapbook to document our activities, and enjoy each other’s camaraderie. Historically, EAHS has also attended the Louisiana High School Spanish Clubs Association (LAHSSC) annual convention, a fun-filled weekend event full of academic competitions held in Baton Rouge. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, LAHSSC has not been able to hold this event for the past two years, but we plan to attend it as soon as we can.
